Abraham House offers our guests and families a secure loving home without charge while providing physical, emotional, and spiritual support to the terminally ill. We are a comfort care home providing hospice (end of life) care 24 hours a day for our terminally ill guests free of charge. We are the only comfort care home located within 3 counties of Herkimer, Oneida, and
Madison and proudly serve the needs of residents from these communities. Since we do not bill for our services or receive state or federal funding, we survive based solely on donations, fundraisers, and small community grants.
We will use funds raised through Madison County Gives to provide music therapy to our guests by replacing the old CD players in our guest bedrooms with new iPods and speakers. This way we can use the internet to access and play any genre of music, artist, or songs that our guest enjoys listening to. The power of music to comfort and console is powerful.
We will also utilize this money to improve the climate control of our guest bedrooms by replacing the old window air conditioner units we currently use with new wall mounted units. This will help keep our bed bound terminally ill guests more comfortable throughout the hot summer months. Any remaining money would be used for any special needs that may arise. This includes purchasing of favorite foods or drinks that our guests may request, new bed linens, hygienic products, or undergarments. Gift cards for gas and restaurants may also be purchased in order to provide our families with transportation or a meal if so needed.
